What is a text to handwriting converter?

A text to handwriting converter turns typed text into an image that looks like it was written by hand on paper. Paste your notes, an essay, a letter or a poem, pick a handwriting font, an ink colour and a paper style, and this tool writes your text onto realistic notebook pages. Each word gets a tiny, natural variation in size, angle and position so the page does not look machine-perfect. You can download every page as a PNG image or all pages together as one PDF.

It supports four handwriting fonts, including Kalam, which also writes Hindi and other Devanagari text, so you can create handwritten-style pages in English and Hindi.

How to use this tool

  1. Type or paste your text into the box. Blank lines become blank lines on the page, and long text flows onto as many pages as needed.
  2. Choose a handwriting font — Caveat, Homemade Apple, Indie Flower or Kalam. Hindi text automatically switches to Kalam.
  3. Pick ink and paper — blue, black or red pen on ruled notebook, plain or grid paper.
  4. Adjust font size, line spacing and realism until it looks right. The preview updates as you change settings.
  5. Press "New handwriting variation" if you want a different natural wobble for the same text.
  6. Download each page as a PNG, or all pages as a single A4 PDF.

How it works

The tool loads the four handwriting fonts from Google Fonts and waits until they are ready before drawing, so the first preview is not shown in a plain fallback font. It then measures every word and wraps the text to fit inside the page margins. Each page is drawn on an HTML canvas of 1240 × 1754 pixels, which is A4 (210 × 297 mm) at 150 dots per inch.

The number of lines per page depends on line spacing: with the default 170-pixel top margin, 90-pixel bottom margin and 64-pixel spacing, a page holds floor((1754 − 170 − 90) ÷ 64) + 1 = 24 lines. At 40 px Indie Flower, the sample text above fills 14 of those lines on a single page. Raising the spacing to 80 px gives floor(1494 ÷ 80) + 1 = 19 lines per page.

Realism comes from a seeded random number generator: for every word it picks a small size change (up to ±4% on Medium), a vertical shift of a couple of pixels, a tiny rotation and a slightly uneven space. Because the generator is seeded, the page looks exactly the same each time you redraw it until you ask for a new variation. The PDF is built in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library: every page image is placed on an A4 page (595 × 842 points).

Use cases

  • Making handwritten-style notes, flashcards and study sheets that are easier to read than plain type.
  • Creating a personal touch for greeting cards, letters, invitations and thank-you notes.
  • Designing social media posts, journal pages and scrapbook elements with a notebook look.
  • Writing Hindi quotes, poems or wishes in a hand-drawn style with the Kalam font.
  • Mock-ups and teaching materials that need a "written in class" feel.

Tips for realistic results

  • Use the Medium realism level — High looks more natural for short notes, Off is best for very clean printouts.
  • Keep font size about 60–65% of line spacing so the letters sit nicely between the ruled lines.
  • Blue pen on ruled paper looks most like a school notebook; black on plain paper suits letters.
  • Print the PDF at "Actual size" or "100%" so the lines are not stretched.
  • Homemade Apple is wide and slanted — reduce the size a little if lines look crowded.

Limitations & notes

The result is a font-based imitation of handwriting, not your own handwriting, and repeated letters share the same shape. It should not be used to pass typed work off as handwritten where handwritten work is required — follow the rules of your school, college or employer. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so the first visit needs an internet connection; your text itself is never uploaded and all drawing happens in your browser. Only Kalam includes Devanagari letters; other scripts may not display correctly. Very long texts are limited to 30,000 characters and 40 pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I convert Hindi text to handwriting?

Yes. Paste Hindi (Devanagari) text and the tool automatically uses the Kalam font, which contains Devanagari letters and joins conjuncts correctly. You can mix Hindi and English in the same text.

How do I download the handwritten pages?

Each page has its own "Download page (PNG)" button. To get every page in one file, press "Download all pages as PDF", which creates an A4 PDF with one page per handwritten sheet.

What size are the pages?

Each page is 1240 by 1754 pixels, which is A4 at 150 dpi. In the PDF every page is a standard A4 page, so it prints correctly on A4 paper.

Why does my handwriting look the same every time I change a setting?

The natural wobble uses a fixed random seed so the page stays stable while you edit. Press "New handwriting variation" to get a different set of small variations.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Your text stays in your browser and the pages are drawn locally on a canvas. Only the font files and the PDF library are downloaded from public CDNs.

Can I add more lines on a page?

Yes. Reduce the line spacing and the font size. With 50-pixel spacing a page holds 30 lines, compared with 24 lines at the default 64 pixels.
