Pregnancy Weight Gain
Healthy pregnancy weight gain depends on pre-pregnancy BMI (Body Mass Index). Standard guidelines from Institute of Medicine (IOM): underweight women gain more, obese less. Twin pregnancies: significantly more gain expected. Too little gain = small baby risk. Excess gain = gestational diabetes, hypertension, difficult delivery risk.
