What is a love calculator?

A love calculator is a playful name game: type your name and your crush’s, partner’s or favourite celebrity’s name, and it returns a “love match” percentage. This love calculator is built for fun and for sharing with friends. It is not scientific and says nothing real about a relationship — the number comes from a fixed mathematical recipe applied to the letters of the two names. What it does guarantee is consistency: the same two names always give the same score, and the order does not matter, so “Rahul + Priya” and “Priya + Rahul” match.

It also includes FLAMES, the school-notebook game that predicts whether two people will be Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Married, Enemies or Siblings.

How to use the love calculator

  1. Type your name in the first box.
  2. Type the other person’s name in the second box. The score appears instantly.
  3. Copy the result with the share button — it copies a ready-made line you can paste into WhatsApp, Instagram or a message.
  4. Switch to the FLAMES tab to play the classic game with the same names.
  5. Try variations — nicknames, full names, or names with surnames all give different results.

How the love score is calculated

Nothing random is involved, so you cannot “re-roll” a better score. The steps are:

  • Both names are converted to lowercase, and spaces, digits and punctuation are removed. So “Rahul”, “rahul” and “ R a h u l ” are treated the same.
  • The two cleaned names are put in alphabetical order. This is what makes the result order-independent.
  • The pair is run through a hash function (FNV-1a with an extra mixing step) that turns any text into a large number in a way that looks random but is fully repeatable.
  • The number is reduced to a score from 1 to 100.

Example: Rahul and Priya score 45% every time, whichever box each name is in. Because the recipe has nothing to do with personality, astrology or compatibility, two people who are perfect for each other can score low — and that is fine. It is a game.

How FLAMES works

FLAMES stands for Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings.

  1. Write both names and cross out letters they have in common, one for one. If a letter appears twice in one name and once in the other, only one pair is crossed out.
  2. Count the letters that are left in both names together.
  3. Count around the word F-L-A-M-E-S using that number and cross out the letter you land on. Start the next count from the letter after it.
  4. Repeat until one letter is left. That letter is the answer.

Example: Rahul and Priya share an R and an A. Crossing them out leaves h, u, l and p, i, y — 6 letters. Counting 6 around FLAMES removes S, then F, A, L and E in turn, leaving M — Marriage. The tool shows the crossed-out letters and the elimination order so you can check it by hand.

If the two names use exactly the same letters (for example, two identical names), nothing is left to count and FLAMES has no answer; the tool tells you so instead of guessing.

Fun ways to use it

  • Compare results for nicknames versus full names at a party or in a group chat.
  • Check your favourite on-screen couples or best-friend pairs.
  • Use the copied result as a light-hearted message or story post.
  • Play FLAMES the old-school way on paper, then check your answer here.

Tips

  • Spelling changes the score. “Priya” and “Priyaa” are different names to the calculator.
  • Names in Hindi, Gujarati or other scripts work for the love score; FLAMES counts only English letters, so use English spellings for it.
  • Do not take any result seriously — it is entertainment, not advice.

Limitations and privacy

The love percentage and FLAMES result have no scientific, psychological or astrological basis. Everything runs in your browser: the names you type are not sent anywhere or saved, and the share text is only copied to your clipboard when you click the button.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the love calculator accurate?

No. It is a game for entertainment only. The percentage is produced by a fixed mathematical recipe applied to the letters of the two names and has no scientific basis.

Why do I get the same result every time?

The calculator is deterministic: it cleans both names, sorts them alphabetically and hashes the pair, so the same two names always give the same score, in either order.

What does FLAMES stand for?

Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings. You cross out common letters, count the remaining letters and use that count to eliminate letters from FLAMES until one is left.

What is the FLAMES result for Rahul and Priya?

Marriage. After crossing out the shared R and A, 6 letters remain, and counting 6 around FLAMES eliminates S, F, A, L and E, leaving M.

Are the names I type stored anywhere?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and does not send or save the names.

Does it work with names in Indian languages?

The love percentage works with names in any script. The FLAMES game counts English letters only, so type names in English for FLAMES.
