Instagram Fonts Generator
Type once and copy your text in 28 Instagram fonts — bold, italic, script, gothic, outline, bubble, small caps and more — with a live count against bio and name limits.
What are Instagram fonts?
Instagram does not let you change the font of your bio, name or captions. The “Instagram fonts” you see on other profiles are actually special Unicode characters — letters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, enclosed (circled and squared) letters, fullwidth letters, small-capital letters and combining marks such as strikethrough. Because they are characters rather than formatting, you can copy them from this Instagram fonts generator and paste them anywhere text is allowed: your bio, display name, captions, comments, story text, Threads posts and highlights.
Type your text once and the generator shows it in 28 styles, each with its own Copy button and a live character count checked against Instagram’s limits.
How to use the Instagram fonts generator
- Type or paste your text in the box. Line breaks are kept, which is useful for multi-line bios.
- Choose the limit to check against: bio (150 characters), name (30) or caption (2,200).
- Scroll the styles — bold, italic, script, gothic, outline, bubble, squares, small caps, strikethrough and more. Optionally show only the styles that fit.
- Tap Copy next to the style you like. The exact text, including quotes, emojis and line breaks, is copied to your clipboard.
- Paste it into Instagram — Edit profile for the bio or name, or the caption box when posting.
How it works
Each style maps the 26 English letters (and, where Unicode has them, the digits 0–9) to a different set of code points. For example, bold “A” is U+1D400 𝐀, and bold “a” is U+1D41A 𝐚. Unicode’s math alphabet has a few holes because some letters were encoded earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, and a correct generator must use those older characters instead:
- Script: B ℬ, E ℰ, F ℱ, H ℋ, I ℐ, L ℒ, M ℳ, R ℛ, e ℯ, g ℊ, o ℴ
- Double-struck (outline): C ℂ, H ℍ, N ℕ, P ℙ, Q ℚ, R ℝ, Z ℤ
- Fraktur (gothic): C ℭ, H ℌ, I ℑ, R ℜ, Z ℨ
- Italic: h ℎ
Generators that skip these holes produce empty boxes for those letters; this one handles them. Strikethrough, underline and slashed styles add a combining mark after every character (but not after spaces or line breaks). Characters without a styled version — punctuation, emojis, Indian-language scripts — are left unchanged.
Character limits and counting
Instagram limits the bio to 150 characters, the name field to 30 and captions to 2,200. Styled letters live outside the Basic Multilingual Plane, so each one is stored as two UTF-16 code units, and combining styles add an extra character per letter. Example: “Hello Instagram 2026” is 20 characters; in Strikethrough it becomes 38 characters, because each of the 18 non-space characters gets a mark. The generator shows both the character count and the UTF-16 count; if a style is marked “may be too long”, it fits only if each styled letter is counted once — shorten the text if Instagram rejects it.
Ideas for using Instagram fonts
- A bold or script name to stand out in search results and comments.
- Section headings in a bio, e.g. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗧 (sans bold) or 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓬𝓮𝓼 (bold script), with plain text after them.
- Strikethrough for playful “old price” or “not this, but that” jokes in captions.
- Small caps or monospace for a clean, minimal look in highlights.
Tips
- Use styled text sparingly — a styled heading plus normal text is easier to read than a whole bio in script.
- Keep keywords people search for (your profession, city or brand) in plain text. Search and screen readers treat styled letters as different symbols, so 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 is not matched as “Hello”.
- Usernames (@handles) only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores, so fonts cannot be used there.
- Black squares turn A, B, O and P into emoji-style letters on many phones, which can look different from the rest.
- Preview on both Android and iPhone if your audience uses both; older devices may show boxes for rarer characters.
Limitations and notes
Only English letters A–Z and digits are styled; some styles (italic, script, gothic, squares) have no special digits in Unicode, so numbers stay plain. Appearance depends on the fonts installed on the viewer’s device. Accessibility tools may read styled letters as mathematical symbols, so avoid putting important information only in styled text. Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the font in my Instagram bio?
Instagram has no font setting, but you can paste Unicode-styled text. Type your text in this generator, copy the style you like, then paste it into Edit profile > Bio on Instagram and save.
Are Instagram fonts safe to use?
Yes. They are standard Unicode characters, not apps or scripts, so copying and pasting them is safe. The text is generated in your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
Why do some letters show as boxes?
The viewer device may not have a font that contains that character. Math-style bold, italic and sans letters are widely supported; rarer characters may not be. Poorly made generators also produce boxes for letters like script B or double-struck R because they ignore Unicode gaps, which this tool handles.
Do Instagram fonts count as more characters?
Styled letters are single characters, but each is stored as two UTF-16 code units, and strikethrough or underline styles add a combining mark after every character. The generator shows both counts against the 150-character bio, 30-character name or 2,200-character caption limit.
Can I use fancy fonts in my Instagram username?
No. Instagram usernames allow only letters, numbers, periods and underscores. You can use styled text in your display name, bio, captions and comments.
Do Instagram fonts affect search?
Yes. Styled letters are different characters, so Instagram search and screen readers do not read them as normal words. Keep important keywords like your name or profession in plain text.
